As India celebrates its 73rd Republic Day today, Samridh Bawa, who plays Jigar in Balika Vadhu 2 on Colors, joins mid-day.com for an exclusive chat.
What are your thoughts and memories about Republic Day?
The first memory of Republic Day that comes to my mind would be celebrating it in my school. There was always a special assembly in which all the students gathered for the flag hoisting ceremony, followed by a cultural programme. Everyone in my family used to sit together and watch the Republic Day parade on TV.
Importance of constitution
For the world’s largest democracy, it is necessary to have a just constitution to maintain peace and harmony in the society. We live in a country with a huge population of people with different beliefs and ideologies. So I think it is important to have a constitution not only for laws but also for citizens to know their rights and duties.
A patriotic song or dialogue that gets you emotional?
I think a lot of people would agree when I say that it is a dialogue from the movie Shershaah – ‘Yeh Dil Maange Aur’. This movie makes you feel extremely proud to be an Indian and a big salute to Captain Vikram Batra for the service rendered by him to our nation. The film itself is very close to my heart and every time I watch it, I go to bed.
