According to the BBC report, a Russian parliamentarian has said that Moscow began planning an attack on Ukraine 12 months ago.
State Duma member Rifat Shaykhutdinov said on state-controlled Channel One TV on Wednesday: “We didn’t prepare this, this operation by accident.”
“It was in preparation for a year, maybe more. We understand what [was happening] And warning them in advance,” he said in remarks on Channel One’s daily talk show Time Will Tell.
He suggested that Russia would not have been attacked if it had not invaded.
“As soon as intelligence data came in… that we would attack and beat them for two days, obviously we’re out there protecting our citizens above all else.”
