Reena: Our constitution is like a mother that treats all her children equally

As India celebrates its 73rd Republic Day today, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2 actress Reena Agarwal joined mid-day.com for an exclusive chat.

What are your thoughts and memories about Republic Day?

I loved watching the parade on TV sitting next to my father as it was a national holiday and I didn’t have to go to school that day. It was only after I grew up as an adult that I learned why we actually celebrate Republic Day!

Importance of constitution
India is a vast country with all kinds of people, different languages, different cultures, different traditions and philosophies, but despite this fact we still have incomparable unity as a country. In short, our constitution is like a mother who treats all her children equally and reminds us that no matter how different they are from each other, they are born as one and under all circumstances Must stick to each other! I think without constitution we would be like a plane without pilot, class without mentor/teacher. Temple without priest.

A patriotic song or dialogue that gets you emotional?

Patriotic Songs/Dialogues That Makes You Emotional: Saare Jahan Se Achcha Hindustan Hamara, Hum Bulbuli Hai Kiske Yeh Gulistan Hamara! There are so many childhood memories associated with a song like this! Maa Tujhe Salaam by AR Rahman sir. Whenever I listen to these two, my hair goes up.
