Indian Embassy in Kiev issues advisory for Indians to leave Ukraine

In a travel advisory for Indians, the Indian Embassy in Kiev advised its citizens to temporarily leave Ukraine in view of the continuing high level of tensions and uncertainties.

“Given the continuing high level of tension and uncertainties regarding the situation in Ukraine, all Indian nationals whose stay is not deemed essential and all Indian students are advised to leave Ukraine temporarily. Commercial flights, and charters available. There may be flights for travel, orderly and timely departure,” read the statement from the Embassy of India.

The advisory further asks Indian students to contact the concerned persons for going back to India.

“Indian students are advised to get in touch with the respective student contractors for updates on charter flights and to continue to follow the embassy Facebook, website and Twitter for any updates,” the statement said.

Tensions over Ukraine have risen in recent months, with Russia and NATO accusing each other of gathering troops along the Russian-Ukrainian border. The United States and Ukraine accused Russia of planning an invasion. But Moscow has denied such claims and says it has no intention of attacking any country.
